So I got a pretty funny postcard in the mail a few days ago. Keep in mind, I don’t have anything against particular law schools, but this made me stop and think for a minute. What attracts you to a law school? I know some people pick undergrad institutions for all sorts of reasons, but should those really be the same reasons you pick a law school? I know I picked my school for its proximity to the state capitol, so I could work in politics. I don’t have that same need with a law school. However, Penn State kind of surprised me the other day. This is what I got in the mail.
A listing of their football schedule. Really? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love football as much as the next southern white male, but really? The one piece of literature I receive from you while I’m applying to law school is a postcard… with your football schedule? For me law school is about career prospects, bar pass rates, and the cost of attendance. Does the football schedule matter to you? Let me know in the comments. This was by far the strangest marketing approach I’ve seen yet for a law school.
